How To Launch Your Lucrative Career As An Editor

Transcript

If you love words, love reading and love writing, but aren’t sure how to take your passion and turn it into a successful career as an editor, I can help.

I can tell you exactly what steps you need to take to launch your fabulous career as an editor. If you are just starting out or even if you’ve started on your journey and are studying and working as an editor, but your career hasn’t yet taken off, I can tell you exactly what you need to do. The biggest challenge for many potential editors is that the path to an editing career isn’t really clear; there’s no bachelor, honours, master’s or PhD in editing.

Sure, there are certificates in editing, but they probably only teach a high school level of grammar and, honestly, don’t mean anything to people who are looking to hire an editor. There are master’s in editing and publishing, but far too often, the editing parts of these degrees are pushed to the side.

Many graduates that I’ve come across have a long way to go to become competent editors, let alone accomplished ones. This is an incredibly frustrating situation, I know, but it’s also an opportunity for you because you’ve just found me, not to be too arrogant. For those of you who don’t know me already, I’ve been an academic editor for over 17 years, and in my roles as a university lecturer and a director of my two editing companies, I’ve trained some of the top editors in Australia. Everyone I’ve trained has gone on to have an outstanding career as an editor in any field, working with me, working as freelancers or working as in-house editors in publishing houses, universities, government and corporations.

I can help you to achieve your goal of becoming an expert editor running a wildly successful business, which is something that many people have tried and failed to do. In fact, every time I hold a major hiring round at Capstone Editing, I’m flooded with literally hundreds of applications and the vast majority of them are from people that I would not consider to be

professional editors based on the standards of their editing tests that I give them. You don’t have to be in that unhappy majority though.

All you need to do is register for my webinar, and I’ll tell you what you to do from there to ensure your success. I know your time is valuable, and I absolutely won’t waste a minute of it. I will talk about training—what works and what doesn’t—where to invest your time and money, and what to avoid as well as the actual business of editing itself. If you want to be a professional editor, especially a freelancer, the business side of things is something you absolutely must have a firm grasp on.

Imagine setting out or continuing on your journey to your dream career knowing you won’t take any false steps, you won’t waste any money and instead you’ll learn everything you need to know, and you’ll maximise your skills and strengths in the most effective way possible. Wouldn’t that feel amazing?
